Relationships

The three basic dialects are:  1. autonomy and connection- shows conflicting desires to be close and separate 2. openness and protection- conflicting desire to tell our secrets and to keep them hidden 3. novelty and prediction- conflicting desire to have stability and change  I have experienced openness and protection, by telling secrets and to keep them hidden from anyone else. I trust that person enough to tell that secret, and to expect them to keep their mouth shut about it. A strategy that I used would be segmentation, where i'm closer to the person at home, and more distant at work. I like to keep work related subjects away from other things, because I don't want to influence opinions towards my jobs. I find it easier to save the "secrets" at home, rather than at a work environment. That strategy was successful because it kept one business from another. Other approaches that might've been more effective would be integration- where it could be open
